Delete Your Account

The short version.
- You can delete your account yourself — in the mobile app or on the web.
- Deletion is immediate and permanent. There is no undo — with one narrow exception, below.
- No account? Anonymous dinners are erased automatically within 24 hours of ending. The record that you accepted our terms is kept, as described below.
Delete it yourself
On iPhone or Android
- Open DinnerSwipe and go to Account & privacy.
- Scroll to Account security.
- Tap Delete account, then confirm twice.
On the web
- Open app.dinner-swipe.app and sign in.
- Open the account menu in the top corner and choose Account.
- Select Delete Account, then confirm twice.
You are signed out and returned to anonymous use straight away. You can keep using DinnerSwipe without an account.
Delete by email
If you cannot reach the app — a lost device, or you have already uninstalled it — email privacy@dinner-swipe.app from the address your account uses. We will confirm and delete it. We aim to respond within 30 days.
We can only act on requests sent from the account's own email address. Without that, we have no way to tell that the request is yours.
What gets deleted

What does not get deleted
A dinner is shared with everyone you invited. If you delete your account while a dinner is still running, the dinner itself stays alive for the others until it expires — but it is no longer linked to you, and your swipes are gone. Dinners are erased on their normal schedule.
Operational records — error counts, provider call counts, and similar — are kept for 90 days so we can run and debug the service. When you delete your account, the reference linking those rows to you is removed, so they no longer identify you. They then age out on their normal 90-day schedule.
The record that you accepted our terms — a random identifier, which version you accepted, and when. Nothing else: no email address, no dinners, no location, no swipes. We keep it for five years from the date you accepted, then delete it automatically.
We keep it because the limitation period for a contract claim runs for years, so deleting the only evidence of what was agreed would remove your proof along with ours. Once your account is gone, the identifier is no longer linked to you and we hold nothing that connects it back. This is the one thing account deletion does not erase.
Anything we are legally required to keep, we keep for only as long as the law requires.
